How to Apply Design Thinking in the Classroom

Hello and welcome to CreativeDesignCycle.com. You will find a summary of the topics covered during my training workshops on this page.

1: You will get familiar with the phases and habits of design.

Designers are creative problem solvers and have developed special ways of working over the years that allow them to create innovative products and services that people love.

The remarkable thing is that anyone can learn to think and see the world as a designer to become more creative and motivate their students to innovate like a designer.

2: You will get access to a library of design curricula.

Get access to curricula to support project-based learning experiences in your school.

There are three types of design curricula:

  1. Methods are procedures that designers follow to complete the four phases of a design process.
  2. Activities provide students with an opportunity to practice the methods of design through hands-on experiences.
  3. Lessons give students (and teachers) the content knowledge required to learn a given topic while simultaneously creating something successfully.

4: Learn tools that will help you plan your lessons.

Once you are comfortable teaching design or utilizing some of the design methods in your classes, the next step is to learn how to integrate design in the planning of your own creative learning units.
